TAEKWON-DO – ART, SELF-DEFENSE... WAY OF LIFE

When practiced consistently, Taekwon-Do produces invaluable physical

and mental improvements. Students develop real and lasting self-confidence.

One of the keys to the success of Taekwon-Do is that the exercises are fun,

the students see results, and this inspires and challenges students to reach their

full potential. Success in a personal development program relies on the student's

dedicated efforts which come naturally as they experience noticeable increases in

strength, flexibility, memory, coordination, and self defense, all of which build self-

esteem and self-confidence. This self-confidence is deep and is not subject to the

results of tomorrow's game. It is not reserved for the best players on the team

but is available to everyone, because everyone experiences improvement with

Taekwon-Do training.

ADULT TAEKWON-DO

This is not sport karate. Taekwon-Do is a Korean Martial Art of unarmed combat,

utilizing punching and kicking techniques, a combat style very similar to kickboxing.

Taekwon-Do training will get you in shape and develop strong self-defense skills.   Mr.

Cross and his staff are professional instructors and will keep you on track, provide motivation, and

empower you with skills that last a lifetime.  We appreciate the courage it takes for a

teen or adult to try their hand at martial arts and you will feel at ease with an instructor

who has "been there, done that."  Our classes have a strong fitness base and offer a workout comparable to a cardio-fitness class.  Best of all, you will gain genuine ability.

Even though Taekwon-Do is not technically a sport, our students are invited to compete

several times a year at local, state, national, and international levels if they are competitively inclined. Although Taekwon-Do and Kickboxing are very similar workouts, Taekwon-Do offers much more than just kicking and punching.  The traditional martial art offers the additional benefits of self-discipline, self-control, self-confidence, and practical self-defense.  You will gain a deeper understanding of

your body and how to effectively utilize a new found balance, focus, and breath control.

JUNIOR TAEKWON-DO

Our goal is to build our students from the inside out.  This means that our first goal is to build

confidence, self-discipline, and self-esteem.  We train our junior students to use common sense

before using his or her skills for self-defense.  We stress the importance of maintaining a healthy

lifestyle.  The martial arts build strong bodies and strong values.  We can help parents develop

children who value honesty, courtesy, respect for authority and the ability to say "no" to

unhealthy peer pressure.  Self-control is a main aspect of the course for this age group.

LITTLE TIGERS

Fun, games, and achievement awards, this program is designed to encourage balance,

coordination, focus, listening to instructions, and cooperation. This class is a fun way to

ensure your children are keeping fit and learning at the same time.  Our Little Tigers course

is designed for children ages 4, 5 & 6.  They will participate in fun martial-arts-based games

to improve their coordination, flexibility, and attention levels.  This course also introduces the

traditional aspects of Taekwon-Do and children learn basic self-defense techniques and

Taekwon-do patterns (forms).  The belts earned in this course are genuine Taekwon-Do

belts and children receive official certificates of grade.

Tai Chi

Tai chi is a Chinese martial art that is primarily practiced for its health benefits, including a means for dealing with tension and stress. Among the martial arts, there are two basic types: the hard martial arts and the soft martial arts. The latter are also called internal arts. Examples of the hard martial arts are karate and Taekwon-Do. Examples of the soft martial arts are ba gua and tai chi. Tai chi emphasizes complete relaxation and has been called "meditation in motion." Unlike the hard martial arts, tai chi is characterized by soft, slow, flowing movements that emphasize force, rather than brute strength. Though it is soft, slow, and flowing, the movements are executed precisely. This is an excellent alternative for those who need a lower impact exercise program that builds core strength and good balance.
